Simon joined Health Data Research UK in January 2025 as Alliance Delivery Manager. In this role, he leads the coordination and delivery of the UK Health Data Research Alliance’s work programme, focusing on the Alliance priorities of building communities, shaping standards, and driving adoption to enable the ethical and trustworthy use of health data.

Simon is Professor Emeritus at the University of Winchester, recognising his distinguished career in academia and significant contributions to health and wellbeing education. With over 15 years of strategic leadership experience, he has specialised in sport, health, and data-driven research. As inaugural Dean of the Faculty of Health & Wellbeing at Winchester, he led the development of innovative interdisciplinary programmes, strengthened faculty capabilities, and established strategic partnerships with healthcare providers and professional bodies.

Simon holds a PhD in Sport and Exercise Physiology and has an extensive research portfolio, including contributions to health data, performance analysis, and healthcare education. He has supervised numerous doctoral students, authored influential publications, and contributed to advancing public and professional understanding in his fields of expertise.
